25 Years of Austrian Family Craftsmanship
Redefining Premium 3-Ply Engineered Wood Flooring
……

As alpine winds sweep through the town of Traunkirchen, reverence for timber is woven into the brand DNA of TRAPA. More than merely a flooring material, TRAPA regards wood floors as an architectural medium that shapes spatial character. With the rigorous standards passed down through the family, it embodies the design philosophy of “Working with wood, labouring alongside wood.”
< Family Origin | A Native Austrian Family Business >

In 2001, Hermann Hörndler and Claudia Hörndler founded TRAPA in Traunkirchen, Austria. 2026 marks the brand’s 25th anniversary milestone.
A 100% Austrian-made privately-owned family brand, TRAPA is headquartered in Traunkirchen, with its modern manufacturing facility in Sankt Veit, Carinthia. All processes, from log sourcing to finished goods, are completed locally with no OEM outsourcing, preserving the original quality benchmarks of European hardwood flooring.
TRAPA believes flooring is not merely a finishing touch for renovation. It should be integrated into space creation at the initial design stage, lending homes unique character through wood’s form, texture and colour.
< Austrian Smart Manufacturing | Modern Factory & Flagship Showroom >

TRAPA’s factory in Carinthia features a complete set of steam, hot-pressing and carbonization equipment for in-house production of its unique Bog Oak craftsmanship. The 120°C high-temperature, high-pressure steam technique replicates the natural ageing of ancient bog wood. Free of chemical dyes, it yields a versatile palette of wood hues from pale gold to deep brown, while boosting timber hardness and service longevity.

Nestled in Traunkirchen, Austria, the 1,200 sqm TRAPA WORLD flagship showroom stands as an inspiration haven for designers. Showcasing over 900 flooring concepts, its Collage Room features more than 500 interior material samples. Available by appointment to architects and designers globally, it presents the full spectrum of wood’s creative potential.
< Full-Spectrum Authoritative Certifications | Protecting Residential Wellbeing >

TRAPA embeds safety and eco-friendliness across the full production chain, holding a range of authoritative European certifications:

PEFC Sustainable Forestry Certification
IBR German Product Health & Safety Certification
French A+ – Highest Grade for Indoor Air Emissions Flooring Slip
Resistance Rating | Corporate Sustainability Certification

From forest sources to indoor air, it achieves dual safeguards for both ecology and residential wellbeing.
< Cross-Disciplinary Synergy | Integrated Aesthetics of Flooring, Stairs, Doors & Windows >

TRAPA has established an in-depth strategic cooperation with JOSKO, a distinguished Austrian family brand for doors and windows. As two Austrian family brands sharing the same origin, they adhere to consistent aesthetic visions and craftsmanship standards, enabling integrated flooring, stair, door and window systems with identical tones and uniform workmanship.

Stairs and flooring share logs from the same batch, boasting identical surface finishes and lightfastness ratings. Doors and windows align with flooring in material, tone and surface texture. It resolves the common issue of disjointed colouration among separate components in premium projects, creating a complete and unified spatial narrative.

“Form is everything. It is the secret of life.” — Oscar Wilde
This quote stands as TRAPA’s design annotation. With 25 years of dedication to 3-ply engineered wood flooring, TRAPA is more than a floor manufacturer. It harnesses wood’s form, colour and texture to write poetry underfoot within spaces.
